Google doesn't want to penalize better UX It is intuitively understandable that SEO and CRO are compatible. Still, many marketers find this difficult to believe. Or at least some marketers seem to be skeptical about the technical aspects of testing and SEO. Mr. Palara , the founder of VWO , answered this question on Quora . According to him, A/B testing doesn't affect SEO. Paras Chopra Mr. Para Chopra "Since Google itself conducts A/B testing and has the tools to do so, it can be assumed that Google fully expects other companies to conduct A/B testing as well. Therefore, it is very unlikely that Google (as well as other search engines) will penalize websites that conduct A/B testing. You might want to filter out search bots from your test results, just in case (although most search engines only look at the original page, not the test variations, so this is probably not necessary). ” Basically, if you follow certain very simple rules, you don't have to worry about A/B testing ruining your search rankings.

Follow Google's testing "rules" Although it has been on the decline in recent years, there were many voices in the past that A/B testing could have a negative impact on search results. In most cases, the following four items were of concern : content cloaking Duplicate URLs and content Redirect error Web page loading India Phone Number problems First, running an A/B test that significantly changes elements via JavaScript is not content cloaking. Content cloaking was an effective and popular SEO technique in the 1990s, with keyword-stuffed variations created for Google bots. Then, actual visitors would be shown a different, more user-friendly version. If you're doing A/B testing, you don't have to worry about being considered content cloaking. Because what Google wants from you is to provide a dynamic experience. Second, duplication of content is also not an issue.

Take a look at Para Chopra's article from a few years ago . Paras Chopra Mr. Para Chopra “The important point to note here is that you will only be penalized by search engines if you steal or repurpose content from a different domain. , and as long as the content is ``yours'', you can do whatever you want with it. Today, many dynamic websites (such as shopping carts and directories) host the same content in different formats. Search engines won't penalize a site if the content is only located within that domain. The same goes for A/B test URLs. Since the content was not stolen, nothing bad will happen. It's all yours! ” If you're worried, it's best to use canonical tags . Third, avoid 301 (permanent) redirects and use 302 redirects.
